One Liverpool FC coach will leave his position at the end of the season, the club has confirmed.
Even as Liverpool work towards sealing the Premier League title in the coming days, all eyes appear to be on the expected summer rebuild.
There is no denying that it is set to be a summer of big changes at the club.
The likes of Darwin Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Luis Diaz, Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota could well leave the club if the right offers come.
After spending over ten months at the club, Arne Slot has run the rule over his squad and knows who to move on and the likely players to bring in.
However, while the focus appears to be on the first team players, the club are also making plans to restructure the academy level.
There have been some changes already in the youth team, loan and scouting departments.
However, another imminent change has now been confirmed, with Liverpool announcing that head coach of the U18s team, Marc Bridge-Wilkinson will step down from his role at the end of the season.
bringing an end to 10 years of service with the club.
Bridge-Wilkinson, who has been at the club for ten years, played a pivotal role at the Academy during that period.
He first worked with the U14s group and then with the U15s/U16s before spending the last five years in charge of the U18s.
LFC Academy director Alex Inglethorpe highlighted Bridge-Wilkinson’s impact and legacy at the club, name-checking some of the current first team stars at Anfield, as some of the players have benefited from his services.
“Marc’s talent and dedication has been evident throughout his time with us and is evidenced by the development of so many young players who have come under his guidance, none more so than those who have gone on to first-team debuts both here at LFC and elsewhere in the Premier League and Football League pyramid,” Inglethorpe told the club’s official website.
“The likes of Jarell Quansah, Conor Bradley and Tyler Morton were among the U18s group he led to an FA Youth Cup final, all of whom have taken that important next step to the LFC first team, among many others.
Meanwhile, the departing Bridge-Wilkinson said: “It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since I joined LFC, but now it is time to move on to a new challenge.
“The Academy is a special place, and it’s been an absolute pleasure to be part of the team for the past decade.
“I’d like to thank Alex Inglethorpe and Nick Marshall for giving me the opportunity and placing faith in me to move up through the age groups.
“A massive thank you, too, to all the coaching staff and the support team – being a part of players’ journeys at such an important stage of their development is a huge privilege and I’ll continue to follow their careers closely.”
